QUARTZ
Compared mainly to granite, quartz countertops are another top performing material for kitchens and bathrooms. While this material is technically “engineered,” it carries many of the same qualities that granite possesses, like stain-resistance, and reliability.
LEARN MORE
Quartz is quickly becoming a popular choice for countertops. A growing number of homeowners are now familiar with this countertop option, but there’s still plenty you may not know about this type of stone. Here are 3 interesting things you likely didn’t know about quartz but should.
1. QUARTZ IS HARDER THAN GRANITE
Granite is incredibly hard and durable, but quartz countertops exceed this standard. Quartz is about 5 times harder than granite. These manmade countertops also have no pores or cracks.
2. QUARTZ REQUIRES VERY LITTLE MAINTENANCE
Quartz is not natural stone but an engineered product. Because it’s made with resin, engineered quartz countertops are completely nonporous and never need to be sealed. The countertop only needs to be wiped down daily. Most surface stains can be easily removed with a cleaning product.
3. You Often Walk on Quartz
Homeowners think of quartz in terms of kitchen or bathroom counters. But the majority of quartz is slabbed out in massive sizes for things like shopping malls, airports, and Prada floors. No doubt you have walked on quartz countertop material and not even known it.
